Insert the AA size battery [LR6] into the batterycase by matching it + and - terminals to thediagram in the battery case, and then close thebattery case.3. Align the protuberances on the battery case withthe indentations on the side of the unit.4. Turn the fixing screw on the battery case towardthe word "LOCK", and then make sure that thebattery case does not move.●When using this portable MD with an alkaline bat-tery, keep the rechargeable battery in the main unit.●Do not insert a rechargeable battery (such as nickel-cadmium rechargeable battery) into the battery case.U SING WITH THE AC ADAPTOR (page 34)1. Plug the AC adaptor into an AC outlet (AC 100 V)and plug the other end into the DC IN 5V jack onthe battery charger.2. Hold the unit and place it gently with the ∆Σ fac-ing towards you.Caution: To ensure safety, unplug the AC adaptor from theAC outlet if not using it for long periods.To check the playing time of each track: 1. In the stop mode, slide the button toor on the remote control to select atrack number or name.2. Press the DISPLAY button on the remote control.Once the playing time is displayed, you cancheck it by selecting the track number.● This unit can display kanji or katakana characterswhich conform to the MD standard specifications.To check service life of the battery: When a rechargeable battery or an alkaline batteryis used, its remaining amount is displayed.As the battery charge drops from use, the bars inthe charge indicator will go out one by one.● When the battery is run down, "LoBATT" appearson the display and the power is turned off.● The battery remaining amount may not bedisplayed steadily for approximately 20 secondsafter the power is turned on.● The remaining amount is not displayed if the unitis used on the battery charger.● The number of bars shown in the battery indicatormay change depending on the operation beingperformed.● If you use a battery which you stopped charginghalfway, "" may appear. It does not mean thatthe battery is completely charged.● "LoBATT", "" or "" may appear when therechargeable battery is low (even if a new alkalinebattery is used at the same time). Charge orremove the rechargeable battery.Caution: When "LoBATT" appears, charge or remove therechargeable battery. Leakage or damage may result.
