Folding down the cargo area partitionBefore opening the hardtop, close the cargoarea partition, arrow, and make sure it engageson both sides.Opening and closingIn the radio ready state or beyond, refer topage 45, and when the vehicle is stationary:If possible, conserve the battery by only operat‐ing the retractable hardtop when the engine isrunning. Before closing the retractable hardtop,remove all foreign objects from the windshieldframe as these could prevent the hardtop fromclosing properly.1 Press and hold button 1:The retractable hardtop closes.2 Press and hold button 2:The retractable hardtop opens.3 LEDsThe side windows move down when the hardtopis opened or closed.If the windows pause briefly as they move, thisis for technical reasons and is not a malfunction.LEDsIn the following situations, an acoustic signalmay sound in addition to the LED lighting up:▷While the hardtop is being operated, thegreen LED lights up. It goes out as soon asthe top is fully opened or closed.▷If the red LED flashes when you release theswitch, the opening or closing action has notyet finished.▷If the red LED lights up when the switch ispressed, the cargo area partition is foldedup, the trunk lid is not closed, the vehicle isstanding on a strong incline or there is a mal‐function. The retractable hardtop cannot bemoved.InterruptionThe automatic sequence of movements is in‐terrupted if the switch for hardtop operation isreleased. The sequence can be continued in thedesired direction by pushing or pulling theswitch.Always open or close the hardtop fully.Open or close the hardtop fully; otherwise,there is a risk of injury or damage when driving.Do not interrupt and resume the closing proce‐dure several times in close succession as thiscould damage the mechanism.◀If the hardtop is not fully opened or closed, thetrunk lid cannot be opened and the windowscannot be moved.Convenient operation with remotecontrol or via door lockInformation on convenient operation, refer topage 23, and on operation using the door lock,refer to page 26.Wind deflectorThe wind deflector keeps air movements in thepassenger compartment to a minimum whenthe hardtop is open and provides an even morecomfortable ride, particularly at high speeds.Seite 34Controls Opening and closing34Online Edition for Part no. 01 40 2 609 184 - 09 11 500
