CD-ROM Drives: Dell OptiPlex GX1 Small-Form-Factor System User's Guidefile:///C|/infodev/2013/eDoc/OpGX1/UG/diskette.htm [2/21/2013 11:47:22 AM]Back to Contents PageCD-ROM Drives: DellTM OptiPlexTM GX1 Small-Form-Factor SystemUser's GuideInstalling a CD-ROM Drive Connecting DrivesInstalling a CD-ROM DriveTo install a CD-ROM drive in the slimline CD-ROM drive bay in the small-form-factor chassis, perform thefollowing steps.CAUTION: To avoid the possibility of electric shock, turn off the computer and any peripherals,disconnect them from electrical outlets, and then wait at least 5 seconds before you removethe computer cover. Also, before removing the computer cover, see the other precautions in"Safety First-For You and Your Computer."1. Unpack the drive and prepare it for installation.NOTICE: To avoid the possibility of damaging the drive from electrostatic discharge (ESD),ground yourself by touching an unpainted metal surface on the back of the computer.Check the documentation that accompanied the drive to verify that the drive is configured for yourcomputer system. Change any settings necessary for your configuration.2. Remove the computer cover.3. If a drive is already installed in the drive bay, remove it.Disconnect the power cable and interface cable from the back of the drive.
