- 24 -First Steps: Setting the Time and DateThe item currently selected for editing will flash. Edit the se-lected item by pressing the zoom-in switch (T/ s) to increase itsvalue or the zoom-out switch (W/ t) to decrease its value.Pressing the zoom switch once changes the value of the se-lected item by one, while holding the switch down causes thevalue to change rapidly. When the maximum value is reached,pressing the zoom-in switch will return the selected item to itsminimum value.To select the next item for editing, press the shutter button.To change the order in which the month, day, and year aredisplayed, highlight the letters showing the current order ( Y MD in the example above), then press the zoom switch to cyclethrough the settings in the order Y M D (year/month/day) MD Y (month/day/year), D M Y (day/month/year). Pressing theshutter button when the desired order is highlighted will set thedate and return you to the previous menu. If an invalid combi-nation of month and day, such as 02/30, is chosen, the camerawill automatically set the date to the first of the following monthwhen changes are saved. To exit the date menu withoutmaking any changes, press the MENU button.Note: The clock-calendar is powered by a separate, rechargeablebattery, which is charged as necessary when the main batteries arein place or the AC adapter is connected. If the camera has beenstored with the main batteries removed for a long period of time,the clock may need to be reset. Once the main batteries havebeen reinserted, the clock battery will recharge in a few hours,during which time the batteries should be left in the camera.
