Safety PrecautionsWater & Dust ResistanceWater & Dust ResistanceHandset complies with IPX5 (former JISprotection level 5)1 and IPX7 (former JISprotection level 7)2 water protectionstandards as well as IP5X (JIS protectionlevel 5)3 dust protection standard, withExternal Device Port Cover (hereafter"Port Cover") and Battery Cover closedfirmly.1IPX5 compliant means that a handsetcontinues to function as a phone afterbeing subjected to a water jet(approximately 12.5 liters/min.) dischargedfrom a nozzle (inner diameter: 6.3 mm),from all directions (approximately 3 mfrom handset) for at least 3 minutes.2IPX7 compliant means that a handsetcontinues to function as a phone afterbeing gently submerged to the depth of1 m in still tap water at room temperature,left there for approximately 30 minutes,then removed from it.3IP5X compliant means that a handsetcontinues to function as a phone and itssafety is maintained after being agitated ina device containing dust of 75 μm orsmaller in diameter for 8 hours, thenremoved from the device.. Water/dust resistance may be affectedunder some circumstances. Warrantydoes not cover malfunctions resultingfrom misuse.. Handset is compliant with IPX5, IPX7and IP5X water/dust protectionstandards. However, ingress of dirt,sand, mud, metal powder, food,beverage, etc. may cause malfunction.Important Notes. Close Battery Cover and Port Coverfirmly. Debris (hair, sand, fibers, etc.)trapped between gasket and base mayexpose handset to liquid/dust.. If Battery/Port Cover is left open liquidexposure may cause handset malfunction/electric shock. Power off, then removeBattery.. If handset is wet, wipe it with a dry cloth.. Do not open/close Battery/Port Coverwith wet hands or while handset is wet.. Handset is only water resistant againstfresh/tap water between 5oC - 35oC.Precautions. Do not subject handset to soap,detergent, bath powder/oil, sea/pool/spawater, hot water, etc.. Rinse off sea/pool water, beverage, dirt,sand, mud, etc. immediately; residuemay cause malfunction if allowed to dry.. Rinse off sand, dirt, etc. completely beforeuse; any residue may damage handsetcausing malfunction.. Do not soak handset in bath or pool;never use it in water (including opening/closing of handset and key operation).. Handset is not resistant to water pressure.Avoid high-pressure water/shower (over6 liters/min.) or water immersion.. Do not expose handset to extremehumidity for long periods; avoidprolonged use in bath/shower rooms.. Do not use in saunas. Avoid hot air fromdryers, etc.. Use handset within 5oC - 35oC (up to40oC for brief periods in bath/showerrooms, etc.) and 35% - 90% humidity.. Avoid extreme temperature (near stoves,inside refrigerators, etc.).. Volume may be low when Mic, Earpieceor Speaker is wet; dry handset before use.. Battery and optional accessories are notwater or dust proof.. Do not subject handset to strong impact;do not poke Mic, Earpiece, Speaker, etc.with a cotton swab or sharp object;water/dust resistance may be affected.. Avoid placing handset directly on sand.Sand may penetrate Earpiece, Speaker,etc., resulting in low volume.xxxi
