Coniguring the ThinkP adTablet with XML iles helpsmak eiteasier forusers toconnect totheir corpor atenetworks and accounts, and quickly beproductive.XML conigur ation ilesThe ThinkP adTablet allows you toconigur ecorpor ateservices forusers byspecifying conigur ation settingsinthe XML ile. When these XML iles aredeliver edtousers and loaded onthe ThinkP adTablet, the settingsareautomatically applied bythe tablet. Coniguring the ThinkP adTablet with XML iles mak esiteasier fortheuser toconnect tocorpor atenetworks and accounts.Using the XML ile, you can conigur ethe following:•Micr osoft Exchange e-mail server•Virtual Privat eNetwork (VPN)•Wireless Network Settings•Digital certiicat es•Active Directorydomain server•Device PoliciesYoucan createasingle, common XML conigur ation ile formultiple users. The XML ile may contain, forexample, the conigur ation settings forthe secur ecorpor atewireless network, the CAcertiicat eforthewireless network, and the addr ess ofthe corpor ateExchange server.Youcan mak ethis XML ile available tothe user bysending ittothe user ’ spersonal e-mail account, which the user can access using anunsecur edvisit ornetwork connection, orthe user ’ shome internet connection. Oryou can also put the XML conigur ationile onaWebserver,making itaccessible toany user that already has the proper intranet credentials.Once the XML conigur ation ile isreceived bythe user ,that user simply taps the ile and the LenovoConigur ation Proile Handler islaunched toimpor tand apply the conigur ation settings onthe device. Theuser may beprompt edtoenterpersonal logon credentials ifthey wer enot included inthe conigur ation ile,but allofthe common server information and settings will bepredeined forthe user .Youcan secur ethe XML conigur ation ile bydigitally signing and/or encr ypting it.Encr ypting helps ensur ethat sensitive data included inthe conigur ation ile, such aspasswor ds, cannot beread byunauthoriz edusers. Digital signatur eshelps ensur ethat the cont ents ofthe ile arenot changed inany way .The Conigur ation Proile Sign and Encr ypt Utility allows signing ofthe conigur ation proile with anembedded privat ekey.The utility also allowsthe ile tobeencr yptedusing anencr yption keyderivedfrom the passwor dprovided tothe utility .The XML conigur ation ile naming convention always has aile extension of.lenovoconig, sothat theThinkP adTablet will recogniz eitasaconigur ation ile.
