質問者が納得MacBook ProでMini DisplayPort接続のコードを使っている者です。
PL-MDPHD01ではないんですが、私もこういった経験をしたことがあります。
なぜかいきなり画面が写らなくなることがあって
新しくコードを買い直したら写るようになったのですが
またしばらくすると写ったり写らなくなったり・・・
Mini DisplayPort接続のコードは差し込み口が小さいためか
非常にデリケートらしくすぐ壊れます。

質問者が納得私のおすすめは前者のE2420HDですね。
理由としては、G2420HDとくらべてスペックが高いこと。特にBenQ独自の「AMA」という高速応答技術を搭載しているので、格闘ゲームやシューティングなど、反応速度を求める時に差が出ると思います。（まぁ、コンマ何秒以下の差でしょうが）
余談ですが、スピーカー搭載機はE2420HDの方ですよ。

例えば・・・
・windows media player
・windows media center
などでも再生できない場合、
・アップデートが必要。
・ドライブ(ＤＩＳＣを読み込む装置)の故障。
スペック的に４ＧＢのメモリとコアＩ７という時点で問題ないと思いますが・・・

質問者が納得十中八九、モニターや接続コードの問題ではありません。PC本体の問題でしょう。モニターの問題で再起動はどうあっても起きません。
ただし、シグナルが検出されないとのメッセージが出るのは、モニターや、配線の問題の可能性もあります。
問題を切り分けるため、まずは違うPCで確認されることをお勧めします。
