Steps to take in an emergencyStarting the engineFor vehicles with an automatic tr ansmission: Put the shift lever in Pand apply the brakes.For vehicles with a manual transmission: Depress the clutchpedal.Hold the electronic key close tothe engine switch (within 0.4 in.[10 mm]). Make sure that the but-ton side of the key is facing awayfrom the engine switch.An alarm will sound to indicate thatthe start function cannot detect thekey with the depleted battery if anyof the doors will be opened andclosed while this operation.For vehicles with an automatic transmission: Press the engineswitch within 5 seconds [after the buzzer sounds], keeping thebrake pedal depressed.For vehicles with a manual transmission: Press the engine switchwithin 5 seconds [after the buzzer sounds], keeping the clutchpedal depressed.In the event that the engine still cannot be started, contact your Lexusdealer.STEP 1STEP 2STEP 3
