- 28 -Using the Scanner: Inserting and Removing Adapters4 Cautions* Wait until the status LED glows steadily or the scanner is offbefore inserting or removing adapters. Do not replaceadapters while the scanner is operating.* If an adapter does not slide in smoothly, remove it from theadapter slot and try again. Do not use force.Using the MA-20 S LIDE M OUNT A DAPTERWhen scanning 35 mm slides, insert the slide adapter into thescanner, stopping when the adapter is firmly in place. Theadapter should be oriented relative to the scanner as shown inthe illustration below.Inserting slidesFilm has an emulsion surface and a base; when examined undera light, the emulsion side is dull and the base shiny. Viewedfrom the base side, the image appears exactly as it would in aprinted photograph. When the photograph is seen from theemulsion side, left and right are reversed, creating a mirrorimage of what would appear in a print.
