質問者が納得CPUのソケットがCore i7 920はLGA 1366、2600KはLGA 1155なので、CPUだけの変更は不可能です。
一から組みなおすのであれば、Sandybridge世代になるので、同じ構成でも快適になります。
ただ、来年２～３月にIvybridgeがでるので、まったほうがいいとは思いますが。

質問者が納得げふぉーすじゃなく。。。ジーフォースとよびます。。GT560以上がおすすめですよ。
もちろん両方変えたほうがベストですが、先にグラボかってからでよいかと思います
