Driving proceduresDriving the vehicleThe following procedures should be observed to ensure safe driving. nStarting the engine (→P. 98)nDrivingAutomatic transmissionWith the brake pedal depressed, shift the shift lever to D. (→P. 101)Release the parking brake. (→P. 108)Gradually release the brake peda l and gently push the accel-erator pedal to accelerate the vehicle. Manual transmissionWith the clutch pedal fully depressed, shift the shift lever into 1. (→P. 105) Release the parking brake. (→P. 108) Gradually release the clutch pe dal. At the same time, gentlydepress the accelerator pedal to accelerate the vehicle. nStoppingAutomatic transmissionWith the shift lever in D, push the brake pedal. If necessary, set the parking brake. When the vehicle is stopped for an extended period of time, shift theshift lever to P or N. (→ P. 101) Manual transmissionWith the clutch pedal fully depressed, push the brake pedal.If necessary, set the parking brake.When the vehicle is stopped for an extended period of time, shift theshift lever into N.
