The mechanical key is stored inside theelectronic key.UnlocksLocksnStarting the engineDepress the brake pedal (for automatic trans-missions) or clutch pedal (for manual transmis-sions).Hold the electronic key close to the engineswitch (within 0.4 in. [10 mm]), making sure thatthe button side of the key is facing toward you. Press the engine switch within 5 seconds ofthe buzzer, keeping the brake pedal (for auto-matic transmissions) or clutch pedal (for man-ual transmissions) depressed.12For instructions on replacing th e electronic key battery, refer to the Owner's Manual.
