Chapter 4. Troubleshooting53Incorrect characters appear on the screen.Did you install the operating system or application program correctly? Ifthey are installed and configured correctly, have the computer serviced.Missing, discolored, or bright dots appear on the screen every timeyou turn on your computer.This is an intrinsic characteristic of the TFT technology. Your computer'sdisplay contains multiple thin-film tr ansistors (TFTs). A small number ofmissing, discolored, or bright dots on the screen might exist all the time. A message, "Unable to create overlay window," appears when youtry to start DVD playback.-or-You get poor or no playback while running video playback, DVDplayback, or game applications.Do either of the following: ̇If you are using 32-bit color mode, change the color depth to 16-bitmode. ̇If you are using a desktop size of 1920*1200 or larger, reduce thedesktop size and the color depth.
