5When trouble arises3955-2. Steps to take in an emergencyTrunkTurn the mechanical key clock-wise to open.Changing "ENGINE START STOP" switch modes and starting the engineAutomatic transmissionShift the shift lever to P and apply the brakes.Touch the Lexus emblem side ofthe electronic key to the"ENGINE START STOP" switch.An alarm will sound to indicate thatthe start function cannot detect theelectronic key that is touched tothe "ENGINE START STOP"switch if any of the doors is openedand closed while the key is touchedto the switch.To change "ENGINE START STOP" switch modes: Within 10seconds of the buzzer sounding , release the brake pedal andpress the "ENGINE START STOP" switch. Modes can bechanged each time the switch is pressed. (→P. 117)To start the engine: Press the "ENGINE START STOP" switchwithin 10 seconds after the buzz er sounds, keeping the brakepedal depressed.STEP 1STEP 2STEP 3
