3685-2. Steps to take in an emergencyCAUTIONnBattery precautionsThe battery contains poisonous and corrosive acidic electrolyte, while related partscontain lead and lead compounds. Observe the following precautions when han-dling the battery.lWhen working with the battery, always we ar safety glasses and take care not toallow any battery fluids (acid) to come into contact with skin, clothing or the vehi-cle body.lDo not lean over the batterylIn the event that battery fluid comes into contact with the skin or eyes, immedi-ately wash the affected area with water and seek medical attention.Place a wet sponge or cloth over the affected area until medical attention can bereceived.lAlways wash your hands after handling the battery support, terminals, and otherbattery-related parts.lDo not allow children near the battery.NOTICEnTo prevent damaging the vehicleDo not pull- or push-start the vehicle, because the three-way catalytic convertermay overheat and become a fire hazard.nWhen handling jumper cablesBe careful that the jumper cables do not become tangled in the cooling fan or anyof the belts when connecting or disconnecting them.
