861-7. Safety informationCAUTIONnSRS airbag precautionslThe SRS front passenger airbag also depl oys with considerable force, and cancause death or serious injury especially if the front passenger is very close to theairbag. The front passenger seat should be as far from the airbag as possible withthe seatback adjusted, so the front passenger sits upright.lImproperly seated and/or restrained infants and children can be killed or seri-ously injured by a deploying airbag. An infant or child who is too small to use aseat belt should be properly secured us ing a child restraint system. Lexus stronglyrecommends that all infants and children be placed in the rear seats of the vehicleand properly restrained. The rear seats are the safest for infants and children.(→P. 95)lIf the seat belt extender has been con-nected to the driver's seat belt buckle butthe seat belt extender has not also beenfastened to the latch plate of the driver'sseat belt, the SRS driver's airbag systemwill judge that the driver is wearing the seatbelt even though the seat belt has not beenconnected. In this case, the driver's airbagmay not activate correctly in a collision, resulting in death or serious injury in theevent of collision. Be sure to wear the seatbelt with the seat belt extender.
