Using other driving systems2When drivingDriving assist systemsTo help enhance driving safety and performance, the following systemsoperate automatically in response to various driving situations. Be aware,however, that these systems are supplementary and should not be reliedupon too heavily when operating the vehicle. n ABS (Anti-lock Brake System)Restrains the vehicle from slipping when driving on slick road surfaces orin the event of sudden braking.n BA (Brake Assist)Generates an increased level of braking force after the brake pedal isdepressed, when the system detects a panic stop situation.n LSD (Limited Slip Differential) (if equipped)Transfers drive power to the rear tires when the front tires spin, and viceversa, in order to improve traction. n VSC (Vehicle Stability Control)Helps the driver to control skidding when swerving suddenly or turning onslippery road surfaces.n TRAC (Traction Control) Maintains drive power and prevents the rear wheels from spinning whenstarting the vehicle or accelerating on slippery roads.n Hill-start assist control (vehicles with an automatic transmission)Prevents the vehicle from rolling backwards when starting on an incline orslippery slope. n EPS (Electric Power Steering) Employs an electric motor to reduce the amount of effort needed to turnthe steering wheel.
