03 Your driving environment Windows, rearview and door mirrors03103WARNINGMake sure that children or other passengersare not in danger of becoming trapped inany way when closing the windows, in par-ticular when the remote control key is used.WARNINGIf there are children in the car - remember toalways switch off the power supply to thepower windows by selecting key position 0and then take the remote control key withyou when leaving the car. For information onkey positions - see page 79.OperatingOperating the power windows.Operating without autoOperating with autoAll power windows can be operated using thecontrol panel for the driver's door - the controlpanels for the other doors can only each oper-ate their respective power window. Only onecontrol panel can be operated at a time.In order for the power windows to be used thekey position must be at least I - see page 78.The power windows can be operated for a fewminutes after the engine has been switched offand after the remote control key has beenremoved - although not after a door has beenopened.Closing of the windows is stopped and thewindow is opened if anything prevents itsmovement. It is possible to force the pinch pro-tection when closing has been interrupted, e.g.with ice, by continuously holding the button upuntil the window is closed. The pinch protec-tion is reactivated after a brief pause.NOTEOne way to reduce the pulsating wind noisewhen the rear windows are open is to alsoopen the front windows slightly.Operating without autoMove one of the controls up/down gently. Thepower windows move up/down as long as thecontrol is held in position.Operating with autoMove one of the controls up/down to the endposition and release it. The window runs auto-matically to its end position.Operating with the remote control keyand central lockingTo remotely operate the power windows fromthe outside with the remote control key or frominside with central locking, see pages 48 and58.
