3-17The middle position balances the sound between thespeakers. To set the fade to the middle position, pressthe P-TYPE LIST AUDIO control briefly, then press it again and hold it until the radio emits one beep. Thefade will be set to the middle position and the displaywill show the speaker balance.To set all tone and speaker controls to the middleposition, press and hold the P-TYPE LIST AUDIOcontrol when no tone or speaker control is active. Theradio will produce one beep and display ALL with thelevel display in the middle position.Using RDS ModeYour audio system is equipped with a Radio DataSystem (RDS). RDS is a system that sends data alongwith the audio of the FM station you are currently tunedto. RDS displays program information and can controlyour radio. With RDS, the radio can do the following:Seek only to stations with the types of programs youwant to listen to,seek to stations with traffic announcements,receive announcements concerning local andnational emergencies, andreceive and display messages from radio stations.RDS features are only available on FM stations thatbroadcast RDS information. The RDS features on yourradio rely on receiving specific RDS information fromthese stations. These features will only work when theRDS information is available. In rare cases, a radiostation may broadcast incorrect information that willcause the radio features to work improperly. If thishappens, please contact the radio station.When you are tuned to an RDS station, the station namewill appear on the display, instead of the frequency.Most RDS stations provide their station name, the timeof day and a Program Type (PTY) for their currentprogramming. Some stations also provide the name ofthe current program.TUNE DISP: Press this control to change what appearson the display while using RDS. Pressing this controlwill also display an RDS station frequency or programtype when the radio is on. The display options arestation name, station frequency, PTY and the name ofthe program (if available). Pressing and holding thiscontrol will activate the RDS default display.
