3-41Cassette Tape Messages(CHK TAPE): If CHK TAPE appears on the radiodisplay, the tape won't play because of one of thefollowing errors.The tape is tight and the player can't turn the tapehubs. Remove the tape. Hold the tape with the open end down and try to turn the right hubcounterclockwise with a pencil. Turn the tape overand repeat. If the hubs do not turn easily, your tapemay be damaged and should not be used in theplayer. Try a new tape to make sure your player isworking properly.The tape is broken. Try a new tape.The tape is wrapped around the tape head. Attemptto get the cassette out. Try a new tape.(CLEAN): If this message appears on the display, thecassette tape player needs to be cleaned. It will still playtapes, but you should clean it as soon as possible toprevent damage to the tapes and player. See "Care ofYour Cassette Tape Player" in the Index. After you cleanthe player, press and hold the cassette eject button forfive seconds to reset the CLEAN indicator. The radiodisplay will display CLEANED to show the indicatorwas reset.If any error occurs repeatedly or if an error can't becorrected, please contact your dealer.Tight/Loose Tape Sensor DefeatWith the radio off and the ignition on, press and hold theTAPE CD button to disable the tight/loose tape sensingfeature to enable play of some tape head cleaners andportable CD adapters. The radio will display READYand flash the cassette icon. The tight/loose tape sensingfeature will then be disabled until the next time acassette is ejected.
