( →P. 542)●If the 12-volt battery discharges while the shift position is in P, it may not be pos-sible to shift the shift position to other positions. In this case, the vehicle cannotbe towed without lifting both front wheels because the front wheels will belocked. (→P. 599)●When the 12-volt battery is reconnected, start the hybrid system and confirmthat the shift position can be changed to each position using the shift positionindicator.●Make sure that the key is not inside th e vehicle when recharging or replacingthe 12-volt battery. The key may be locked in the vehicle if the alarm is activated.(→P. 121)■Charging the 12-volt batteryThe electricity stored in the 12-volt batter y will discharge gradually even when thevehicle is not in use, due to natural discharge and the draining effects of certainelectrical appliances. If the vehicle is left for a long time, the 12-volt battery may dis-charge, and the hybrid system may be un able to start. (The 12-volt batteryrecharges automatically while the hybrid system is operating.)
