08 Wheels and tyresChanging wheels 08314* Option/accessory, for more information, see Introduction.Spare wheel*The following instructions are applicableonly if a spare wheel has been purchased asan optional extra with the car. If the car doesnot have a spare wheel, see page 321 for infor-mation on temporary tyre sealing (TMK).The spare wheel (Temporary spare) is onlyintended for use temporarily and must bereplaced by an ordinary wheel as soon as pos-sible. The car's handling may be altered by theuse of the spare wheel. The spare wheel issmaller than the normal wheel. The car'sground clearance is affected accordingly. Payattention to high kerbs and do not machinewash the car. If the spare wheel is fitted on thefront axle, you cannot use snow chains at thesame time. On all-wheel drive cars the drive onthe rear axle can be disconnected. The sparewheel must not be repaired. The correct tyrepressure for the spare wheel is stated in thetyre pressure table, see page 388.IMPORTANTNever drive faster than 80 km/h with a sparewheel on the car.IMPORTANTThe car must never be driven fitted withmore than one temporary spare wheel.The spare wheel is supplied in a bag whichmust be placed on the cargo area floor in thecargo area and be secured with straps.Cars with two load retaining eyelets.Turn the handle on the spare wheel bag intowards the rear seat. Attach the sewn-in ten-sioning strap hooks in the load retaining eye-lets. Attach the long strap into one of the loadretaining eyelets, run the strap around thespare wheel and through the lower handle.Tighten the short tensioning strap onto the longone. Attach the second load retaining eyeletand tighten.Cars with four load retaining eyelets.Turn the handle on the spare wheel bag outtowards you. Attach the sewn-in tensioningstrap hooks in the front load retaining eyelets.Attach the long strap into one of the front loadretaining eyelets, run the strap diagonally overthe spare wheel and through the upper handle.Tighten the short tensioning strap onto the longone. Attach the rear load retaining eyelet andtighten.Taking out the spare wheel1. Loosen the straps, lift out the spare wheelfrom the cargo area and remove it from thespare wheel bag.2. Fold up the cargo area floor.3. Lift the tools and jack out from the foamblock.
