02 Locks and alarm Alarm*02* Option/accessory, for more information, see Introduction.63GeneralActivated alarm is triggered if:•a door, the bonnet or the tailgate is opened•a movement is detected in the passengercompartment (if fitted with a movementdetector*)•the car is raised or towed away (if fittedwith a tilt detector*)•the battery's cable is disconnected•the siren is disconnected.If there is a fault in the alarm system, the infor-mation display shows a message. In whichcase, contact a workshop - an authorisedVolvo workshop is recommended.NOTEThe movement sensors trigger an alarm inthe event of movement in the passengercompartment - air currents are also regis-tered. For this reason the alarm is triggeredif the car is left with a window or the sunroofopen or if the passenger compartmentheater is used.To avoid this: Close the window/sunroofwhen leaving the car. If the car's integratedpassenger compartment heater (or a porta-ble electric heater) shall be used - direct theairflow from the air vents so that they are notpointing upwards in the passenger com-partment.NOTEDo not attempt to repair or modify alarmsystem components. All such attemptscould affect the terms of insurance.Alarm indicatorSame LED as lock indicator, see page 45.A red LED on the instrument panel indicatesthe alarm system's status:•LED not lit – Alarm not armed•The LED flashes once every other second– Alarm is armed•The LED flashes rapidly after disarming thealarm (and until the remote control key isinserted in the ignition switch and key posi-tion I is selected) – Alarm has been trig-gered.Arming the alarm–Press the remote control key lock button.Deactivate the alarm–Press the remote control key unlock but-ton.
