Speedometer and OdometerThe speedometer shows the vehicles speed in bothmiles per hour (mph) and kilometers per hour (km/h).The odometer shows how far the vehicle has beendriven, in either miles (used in the United States)or kilometers (used in Canada).Trip OdometerThe trip odometer can show how far the vehicle hasbeen driven since the trip odometer was last set to zero.Press the reset button, located on the instrumentpanel cluster next to the trip odometer display, to togglebetween the trip odometer and the regular odometer.Holding the reset button for approximately one secondwhile the trip odometer is displayed resets it.To display the odometer reading with the ignition off,press the reset button.TachometerThe tachometer displays the engine speed in revolutionsper minute (rpm).Safety Belt RemindersSafety Belt Reminder LightWhen the engine is started, a chime sounds forseveral seconds to remind a driver to fasten the safetybelt, unless the driver safety belt is already buckled.The safety belt lightcomes on and stays on forseveral seconds, thenflashes for several more.This chime and light are repeated if the driver remainsunbuckled and the vehicle is in motion. If the driver safetybelt is already buckled, neither the chime nor the lightcomes on.Passenger Safety Belt Reminder LightSeveral seconds after the engine is started, a chimesounds for several seconds to remind the front passengerto buckle their safety belt. This only occurs if thepassenger airbag is enabled. See Passenger SensingSystem on page 1-90for more information. Thepassenger safety belt light, located on the instrumentpanel, comes on and stays on for several seconds andthen flashes for several more.3-36
