- 8 -First Steps: Taking Your First PhotographAUTONORMALImage quality (normal)Flash (auto)Step 3-Adjust camera settingsIn automatic mode, the user can adjust flash, focus, exposurecompensation, and image quality. The default settings, whichproduce the best results in most circumstances, are automatic flash,autofocus, no exposure compensation, an image quality of "nor-mal," and an image size of "full" (1,600 × 1,200 pixels).1/125F3.8These settings allow the camera to set focus automatically at anydistance greater than 30cm (one foot). The camera measures theavailable light and adjusts shutter speed and aperture accordingly,firing the flash to provide additional light as necessary.Step 4-Compose a photographInformation on composing photographs may be found on pages 6-8 of the Pocket Guide.
