03 Your driving environment Gearboxes03121IMPORTANTThe operating temperature of the gearbox ischecked in order to prevent damage to anyof the drive system's components. In theevent of a risk of overheating a warningsymbol illuminates on the instrument panelcombined with a text message - In whichcase, follow the recommendation given.Manual gearboxGearshift pattern 5-speed gearbox.Gearshift pattern 6-speed gearbox.The 6-speed box is available in two versions -reverse gear position differs between them.Look at the actual gearshift pattern imprintedon the gear lever.•Depress the clutch pedal fully during eachgear change.•Take your foot off the clutch pedal betweengear changes.WARNINGAlways apply the parking brake when park-ing on a slope - leaving the car in gear is notsufficient to hold the car in all situation.Gear indicator1An essential detail in connection with environ-mental driving is to drive in the right gear andchange gear in time.The driver is assisted by an indicator - GSI(Gear Shift Indicator) - which notifies the driverwhen it is most advantageous to engage thenext higher or lower gear in order to obtain thelowest possible fuel consumption. However,taking into consideration characteristics suchas performance and vibration-free running, itmay be advantageous to change gear at ahigher engine speed.Indication is made with an up or down arrow inthe combined instrument panel's right-handdisplay.1Only manual gearbox for the D2 model.
