- (Defog):The defog mode is used to clear thewindows of fog or moisture. Air is directed to thewindshield, floor outlets, and side window vents. In thismode, the system turns off recirculation and runsthe air conditioning compressor unless the outsidetemperature is close to freezing. The recirculation modecannot be selected while in the defog mode.0 (Defrost):The defrost mode is used to remove fogor frost from the windshield more quickly. Air is directed tothe windshield and side window vents, with some directedto the floor vents. In this mode, the system automaticallyforces outside air into the vehicle. The recirculation modecannot be selected while in the defrost mode. The airconditioning compressor runs automatically in thissetting, unless the outside temperature is close tofreezing.Do not drive the vehicle until all the windows are clear.# (Air Conditioning): Press this button to turn the airconditioning system on or off. An indicator light comeson to show that the air conditioning is on. The airconditioning can be selected in any mode as long asthe fan switch is on.On hot days, open the windows to let hot inside airescape; then close them. This helps to reduce the timeit takes for the vehicle to cool down. It also helps thesystem to operate more efficiently.The air conditioning system removes moisture from theair, so a small amount of water might drip under thevehicle while idling or after turning off the engine. This isnormal.h (Recirculation):Press this button to turn therecirculation mode on or off. An indicator light comes onto show that recirculation is on.This mode recirculates and helps to quickly cool the airinside the vehicle. It can be used to help preventoutside air and odors from entering the vehicle.The recirculation mode cannot be used with floor, defrost,or defogging modes. If recirculation is selected while inone of those modes, the indicator flashes three times andturns off. The air conditioning compressor will also comeon when this mode is activated. While in recirculationmode the windows may fog when the weather is cold anddamp. To clear the fog, select either the defog or defrostmode and increase the fan speed. The recirculation modecan also be turned off by turning off the engine.REAR:Press to turn the rear heating and airconditioning on. See Rear Air Conditioning and HeatingSystem on page 3-31 orRear Air Conditioning andHeating System and Electronic Climate Controlson page 3-32for more information.3-23
