Wheels and tiresTire inflation pressureInformation for your safetyIt is not merely the tires' service life, but alsodriving comfort and, to a great extent, drivingsafety that depend on the condition of the tiresand the maintenance of the specified tire pres‐sure.Check the tire inflation pressure regularlyRegularly check the tire inflation pressureand correct it as needed: at least twice a monthand before a long trip. If you fail to observe thisprecaution, you may be driving on tires with in‐correct tire pressures, a condition that may notonly compromise your vehicle's driving stability, but also lead to tire damage and the risk of anaccident.◀Checking the pressureOnly check the tire inflation pressure when thetires are cold. This means after a maximum of1.25 miles/2 km driving or when the vehicle hasbeen parked for at least 2 hours. When the tiresare warm, the tire inflation pressure is higher. After adjusting the tire inflation pressure, resetthe Tire Pressure Monitor, refer to page 84, orreinitialize the Flat Tire Monitor, refer topage 82 .Pressure specificationsThe tables below provide all the correct inflationpressures for the specified tire sizes at ambienttemperature. The inflation pressures apply to the tire sizesapproved and tire brands recommended byBMW; a list of these is available from your serv‐ice center. For correct identification of the right tire inflationpressures, observe the following:▷Tire sizes of your vehicle.▷Vehicle load.▷Maximum allowable driving speed.Tire inflation pressures for driving up to100 mph or 160 km/hFor normal driving up to 100 mph/160 km/h, ad‐just pressures to the respective tire inflationpressures listed on the following pages in thecolumn for traveling speeds up to 100 mph/160 km/h to achieve optimum driving comfort. These tire inflation pressures can also be foundon the driver's side door pillar when the driver'sdoor is open.Do not exceed the maximum permissiblespeedThe maximum permissible speed for these tirepressures is 100 mph/160 km/h Do not exceedthis speed; otherwise, tire damage and acci‐dents could occur.◀Tire inflation pressures for drivingabove 100 mph or 160 km/hAdjust the tire inflation pressuresTo drive at maximum speeds in excess of100 mph/160 km/h, adjust pressures to the re‐spective tire inflation pressures listed on the fol‐lowing pages in the column for traveling speedsincluding those exceeding 100 mph or 160 km/h. Otherwise, tire damage and accidents couldoccur.◀Observe all national and local maximum speedlimits; otherwise, violations of the laws could oc‐cur.Seite 189189Online Edition for Part no. 01 41 2 604 231 - 03 10 500 ReferenceMobilityCommunicationEntertainmentNavigationDriving tipsControlsAt a glance
