flation pressure label, you should determine theproper tire inflation pressure for those tires. Asan added safety feature, your vehicle has beenequipped with a tire pressure monitoring sys‐tem, TPMS, that illuminates a low tire pressuretelltale when one or more of your tires are sig‐nificantly under-inflated. Accordingly, when thelow tire pressure telltale illuminates, you shouldstop and check your tires as soon as possible, and inflate them to the proper pressure. Drivingon a significantly underinflated tire causes thetire to overheat and can lead to tire failure. Un‐der-inflation also reduces fuel efficiency and tiretread life, and may affect the vehicle’s handlingand stopping ability. Please note that the TPMSis not a substitute for proper tire maintenance, and it is the driver’s responsibility to maintaincorrect tire pressure, even if under-inflation hasnot reached the level to trigger illumination ofthe TPMS low tire pressure telltale. The TPMS malfunction indicator is combinedwith the low tire pressure telltale. When the sys‐tem detects a malfunction, the telltale will flashfor approximately one minute and then remaincontinuously illuminated. This sequence willcontinue upon subsequent vehicle startups aslong as the malfunction exists. When the mal‐function indicator is illuminated, the system maynot be able to detect or signal low tire pressureas intended. TPMS malfunctions may occur fora variety of reasons, including the installation ofreplacement or alternate tires or wheels on thevehicle that prevent the TPMS from functioningproperly. Always check the TPMS malfunctiontelltale after replacing one or more tires orwheels on your vehicle to ensure that the re‐placement or alternate tires and wheels allowthe TPMS to continue to function properly.Brake force display*The concept▷During normal brake application, the outerbrake lamps light up.▷During heavy brake application, the lowerbrake lamps light up in addition. The brake force display is automatically acti‐vated if the turn signal is not flashing.Seite 8686Online Edition for Part no. 01 41 2 604 231 - 03 10 500Safety
