Battery replacementUse approved vehicle batteries.Only use vehicle batteries that have beenapproved for your vehicle by the manufacturer;otherwise, the vehicle could be damaged andsystems or functions may not be fully availa‐ble.◀After a battery replacement, have the batteryregistered on the vehicle by your service centerto ensure that all comfort functions are fullyavailable.Charging the batteryIn the vehicle, only charge the battery via theterminals in the engine compartment, refer topage 197, with the engine switched off.Power failureAfter a temporary power loss, some equipmentneeds to be reinitialized.Individual settings need to be reprogrammed:▷Seat, mirror, and steering wheel memory:store the positions again, refer to page 45 .▷Time: update, refer to page 66 .▷Date: update, refer to page 67 .▷Radio station: store again, refer topage 142 .▷Navigation system: wait for the operability ofthe navigation.▷Interior rearview mirror with digital compass:recalibrate, refer to page 103 .Disposing of old batteriesHave old batteries disposed of by yourservice center or bring them to a recy‐cling center.Maintain the battery in an upright position fortransport and storage. Secure the battery sothat it does not tip over during transport.FusesNotesReplacing fusesNever attempt to repair a blown fuse anddo not replace a defective fuse with a substituteof another color or amperage rating; this couldlead to a circuit overload, ultimately resulting ina fire in the vehicle.◀A pair of plastic tweezers is found on the currentdistributor.See the inside of the cover for information onfuse assignment.Below the glove box1. Remove the screws 1 using the screwdriverfrom the onboard vehicle tool kit.2. Remove cover 2, unwinding the cable to thefootwell lamp* if necessary.3.Release the shiny fastener 3.4.
