Operation Five-Speed TransmissionWhen the shift lever is in the DRIVE position, thetransmission will operate automatically, shifting betweenthe five available gears. To engage AutoStickfi, simplytap the shift lever to the right or left (+/-) while in theDRIVE position, or tap one of the steering wheel-mounted shift paddles (+/-), if equipped. Tapping (-) toenter AutoStickfi mode will downshift the transmissionto the next lower gear, while using (+) to enterAutoStickfi mode will retain the current gear. WhenAutoStickfi is active, the current transmission gear isdisplayed in the instrument cluster. In AutoStickfi mode,the transmission will shift up or down when (+/-) ismanually selected by the driver (using the shift lever, orthe shift paddles [if equipped]), unless an engine luggingor overspeed condition would result. It will remain in theselected gear until another upshift or downshift is cho-sen, except as described below.•If AutoStickfi is engaged while in DRIVE mode, thetransmission will automatically shift up when maxi-mum engine speed is reached. If the accelerator is fullydepressed, the transmission will downshift when pos-sible (based on vehicle speed and gear).•If AutoStickfi is engaged while in SPORT mode,manual gear selection will be maintained until eitherSPORT mode is exited or as described below. Thetransmission will not upshift automatically at redlinein this mode, nor will downshifts be obtained if theaccelerator pedal is pressed to the floor.•The transmission will automatically downshift as thevehicle slows down (to prevent engine lugging) andwill display the current gear.•The transmission will automatically downshift to firstgear when coming to a stop. After a stop, the drivershould manually upshift (+) the transmission as thevehicle is accelerated.5STARTING AND OPERATING 389
