DrivingVehicle equipmentThis chapter describes all series equipment aswell as country-specific and special equipmentoffered for this model series.Therefore, it alsodescribes equipment that may not be found inyour vehicle, for instance due to the selectedspecial equipment or the country version. Thisalso applies to safety-related functions and sys‐tems.Ignition lockInsert the remote control into theignition lockInsert the remote control all the way into the ig‐nition lock.▷Radio ready state is switched on. Individualelectrical consumers can operate.Comfort AccessIf the car is equipped with Comfort Access, onlyinsert the remote control into the ignition lock,refer to page 28, under special circumstances.Removing the remote control from theignition lockDo not forcibly pull the remote control outof the ignition lockDo not forcibly pull the remote control out of theignition lock as this may cause damage.◀Before removing the remote control, push it allthe way in to release the locking mechanism.▷The ignition is switched off if it was on.Sport automatic transmissionWhen the remote control is removed from theignition lock, transmission position P is engagedautomatically. To make it possible for the vehicleto roll, such as in an automatic car wash, followthe instructions in Car washes, refer topage 182 .Start/Stop buttonPressing the Start/Stop button switches theradio ready state or the ignition on and off.The engine starts when you press the Start/Stopbutton and, if the car has manual transmission,also depress the clutch, or, if the car has auto‐matic transmission, also depress the brake.Radio ready stateIndividual electrical consumers can operate.The time and the external temperature are dis‐played in the instrument cluster.Radio ready state is switched off automatically:▷When the remote control is removed fromthe ignition lock.▷In cars with Comfort Access, by touching thesurface above the door lock, locking, refer topage 28.Seite 45Driving Controls45Online Edition for Part no. 01 40 2 609 184 - 09 11 500
