- 16 -Parts and Accessories: Through the ViewfinderThrough the ViewfinderThe viewfinder contains two frames. The frame on the left isused when taking pictures at a range of 50 cm (twenty inches)or more, that on the right when composing photographs formacro close-up at ranges of 8 - 50 cm (3" - 20"). The pointmarked by the indicator in the center of the viewfinder isused as the focus point for the autofocus operation. For thebest results when using programmed autofocus, compose yourphotographs so that the subject is at the focus point.[1][2][3][1] Macro close-up field-of-viewUse this frame when composing photographs in macro close-up mode[2] Focus point indicator[3] Field of view (normal mode)Beneath the viewfinder is a "diopter dial," which allows userscompensate for individual differences in vision by making fineadjustments to viewfinder focus. Should you find that the viewthrough the viewfinder is out of focus even when the image inthe color LCD monitor is in focus, adjust viewfinder focus byturning the diopter dial.
