- 15 -Parts and Accessories: The Control Panel and Color MonitorThe Control Panel and Color LCD MonitorThe COOLPIX 900 is equipped with two displays, one a black-and-white control panel giving the current camera settings, andthe other a color LCD monitor that in addition to displayinginformation on current settings also shows the view through thelens. The color LCD monitor is also used to play back imageswhen the selector dial is set to PLAY.The color LCD monitor shows the view through the camera'slens, adjusted for such settings as white balance, exposure, anddigital zoom. The MONITOR button below the monitorcontrols whether camera settings will be shown superimposedon the image from the lens, and can also be used to turn themonitor off, increasing battery life. In manual (M-REC) andplayback (PLAY) modes, pressing the MENU button causes thesettings menus for the current mode to be displayed.
