- 17 -First StepsFirst StepsThis chapter guides you through the steps you will take afterremoving the camera from the box, from inserting the batteriesto making your first photographs and playing them back. Beforeyou will be able to use your camera, you will need to:* attach the camera strap* insert batteries or connect the AC adapter* insert the compact flash memory card* choose the language to be used in the setting and play-back menus* set the camera's clock-calendar to the current date andtimeThese tasks are detailed on the pages that follow. Once thesesteps have been completed, your camera will be ready to takephotographs and play them back as described at the end of thischapter. More detailed information on camera settings and onplaying images back may be found in the chapters following.Attaching the Camera StrapAttach the camera strap as shown below.Keep the strap over your shoulder or around your wrist whencarrying the camera.Note: Feed at least 5 cm (2 ) ofthe strap through the final hole.
