- 30 -First Steps: Basic Photography (A-REC)Step 8-Take a photographTo take a photograph, press the shutter-release button all theway down.The autofocus lamp will flash rapidly and an hourglass icon ( )will be displayed in the color LCD monitor while the photo-graph is being recorded to the compact flash memory card.Once the process of recording the photograph to memory iscomplete, the exposure count in the control panel and colorLCD monitor will go down by one.The camera will then be ready to shoot another photograph.Note: At some settings, the exposure count may not changewhen a photograph has been recorded.Step 9-Play the photograph backTo play a photograph back, turn the selector dial to PLAY.An hourglass icon ( ) will be displayed in the color LCD moni-tor while the camera reads a photograph from memory. Themost recently recorded photograph will then appear, togetherwith information on the date of recording, the image qualitysetting, and the photograph's filename and position in memory.Date andtime of recordingPosition in memoryFilenameImage qualityBattery indicatorNumber of exposures remainingIf nothing shows in the monitor, press the MONITOR buttonuntil the photograph and related information are displayed;pressing the MONITOR button once more will hide the imageinformation and battery indicator, leaving only the photographdisplayed.
