- 55 -PlaybackPlaybackThis chapter describes how to view photographs stored in theflash-memory card, how to create a slide show using thesephotos, and how to delete unwanted photographs from memory.These playback functions are available when the selector dial isturned to PLAY.Turning the selector dial to PLAY causes an hourglass icon ( )to be displayed in the color LCD monitor while the camerareads the most recently recorded photograph from memoryand displays it in the monitor (if there is no card in the cameraor the card currently in the camera contains no images or is notformatted, an error message will be displayed; error messagesare described in "Troubleshooting," below). The camera'splayback display is shown below.The filename, date-of-recording, and other indicators can behidden by pressing the MONITOR button. To view the indica-tors once more, press the MONITOR button until they reap-pear. If no operations are performed for thirty seconds, themonitor will go off automatically to save power. To turn themonitor on again, press the MONITOR or shutter button. Thelength of time before the monitor goes off automatically duringplayback can be set using the playback menu. See " Auto Off,"below.The photographs in memory can be viewed one at a time usingthe zoom switch. Press the zoom-in switch (T/ s) to pagethrough the photographs one at a time in the order recorded,or view the photographs in reverse order by pressing thezoom-out (W/t) switch. An hourglass icon () will be dis-played while each photograph is read from memory. If thezoom switch is pressed before a photograph has been readfrom memory, the camera will stop reading the current photo-graph and start reading the next photograph.To select a particular photograph for viewing, press the thumb-nail button () located above the color LCD monitor at thebase of the control panel.
