- 6 -Safety Precautions* When replacing the main batteries, replace all batteries atthe same time using only one type of battery. Do not mixbatteries of different types or use old batteries together withnew.* Do not attempt to recharge, short, or disassemble thebatteries.* Do not expose the batteries to flame or to excessive heat ormoisture.* Batteries are prone to leakage when fully discharged. Toavoid damage to the camera, be sure to remove thebatteries when no charge remains.* When the camera is used continuously for a long time onbattery power, the batteries may become hot. Due cautionshould be observed when removing the batteries.*Use appropriate cablesWhen connecting cables to the serial and video jacks, besure to use only the cables provided for the purpose.*Observe proper precautions when using the AC adapterAn AC adapter for the COOLPIX 900 is available forseparate purchase. Improper use of this adapter could resultin fire or electric shock. Observe the following precautionswhen using the AC adapter with your camera.*Use only the adapter and cable sold for the COOLPIX 900 inyour region. Using any other adapter or cable could result infire or electric shock.* Be sure to use a voltage appropriate to the cable providedwith your adaptor. Depending on the country of purchase,the cable provided will be rated for 100-120V or 220-240.* The adapter is for indoor use only. Use batteries whenoperating your COOLPIX 900 out of doors.* Be careful not to damage the power cord's protectiveinsulation. Do not cut or abrade the cord, expose the cordto heat or flame, or place heavy objects on the cord. Whenremoving the cord from a power outlet, pull on the adapter;never pull directly on the cord itself. Should the cord bedamaged, return it to your retailer for a replacement.Continued use could result in fire or electric shock.* Do not use the AC adapter near water, or expose the cordto steam or moisture. Do not handle the AC adapter whenyour hands are wet.* Do not expose the adapter to heat or flame.* Do not disassemble.* Unplug the adapter when not in use, when replacing thebatteries, and when cleaning the adapter or putting it away.*Keep out of reach of childrenParticular care should be taken to prevent infants fromputting the camera's batteries or other small parts into theirmouths.*Do not walk while looking through viewfinderWalking while looking through the camera's viewfinder orcolor LCD monitor could result in a fall or other injury.*Observe caution when operating the flashUsing the flash close to your subject's eyes could causetemporary visual impairment.
