- 41 -Advanced Settings (M-REC): Exposure CompensationExposure CompensationWhile the camera's matrix metering system can adjust auto-exposure to suit most lighting conditions, in some cases it maybe necessary to adjust exposure to bring out a back-lit subjector to darken an image that would be too bright. To adjust thecamera's autoexposure settings to increase or decrease expo-sure, highlight EXP. +/- in the shooting menu and press theshutter-release button. The following menu will be displayed. -0.+05 BK EXP. + / - SETSHUTTER+2..0+15.+10..-15-02..-05-01Exposure can be increased or decreased up to two levels inincrements of half a level. To increase exposure, highlight avalue from +0.5 to +2.0 (when a value other than +-0 is high-lighted a icon will be displayed) and press the shutter button.The view through the camera's lens will appear brighter whenseen in the color LCD monitor, and any photographs taken atthis setting will be more exposed. Similarly, photographs takenat settings of from -0.5 to -2.0 will be less exposed. Whenexposure compensation is set to any value other than +-0 andthe selector dial is set to M-REC, the exposure level will bedisplayed in the color LCD monitor and shooting menu, whilethe control panel will show the exposure-compensation icon().Exposure compensation has no effect when the camera is in A-REC mode.To restore normal programmed autoexposure, highlight +-0 inthe exposure compensation menu and press the shutter button.To return to the shooting menu without changing the exposurelevel, highlight BK and press the shutter button. Press theMENU button to restore the view through the lens withoutchanging the exposure level.Exposure compensation level
