- 44 -Advanced Settings (M-REC): Continuous (Digital Motor Drive)Continuous (Digital Motor Drive)Like a conventional motor-drive camera, the COOLPIX 900can be set to shoot frames continuously while the shutterbutton is held down.The COOLPIX 900 offers a choice of three drive settings in M-REC mode: single frame, continuous, and VGA sequence. Insingle-frame mode, one photograph is taken each time theshutter-release button is fully pressed. In continuous mode,photographs will be taken one after another as long as theshutter-release button is held down. Speed depends on theimage-quality setting and the type of flash memory used. At adrive setting of "VGA sequence," photographs are recordedat a resolution of 640 . 480 (VGA resolution) instead of thecamera's usual 1,280 . 960, and the image quality is set to"Normal." This reduces the amount of memory consumed byeach photograph in the sequence, allowing more photographsto be recorded more rapidly. Up to ten photographs will betaken at approximately two frames per second each time theshutter button is pressed.To change the drive setting, highlight CONTINUOUS in theshooting menu and press the shutter button. The followingmenu will appear.ISNGLE OCNTINUOUS GVA ESQUENCEBK CONT. MODE SETSHUTTERHighlight the desired drive setting and press the shutter button(note that CONTINUOUS is not available when the camerais in VGA mode). The chosen setting will be shown as an iconin the shooting menu. When the drive setting is CONTINU-OUS and the selector dial is set to M-REC, a icon willappear in the control panel.At a setting of VGA SEQUENCE, the icon will appear inthe control panel together with the image-quality indicatorNORMAL, which will blink to show that the camera is in VGAmode. The color LCD monitor, if on and set to display camerasettings, will show VGA and NORMAL indicators.At drive settings of CONTINUOUS and VGA SEQUENCE,the flash will be set to "Flash Cancel" when the camera is inM-REC mode. Drive settings have no effect in A-REC mode.To exit the drive-setting menu without changing the currentdrive setting, highlight BK and press the shutter button toreturn to the shooting menu, or press the MENU button torestore the view through the lens.
