Forcibly cutting power to the camera in thesecircumstances could result in loss of data or in damage to thecamera's internal circuitry or memory. For this reason, it wouldnot be advisable to carry the camera from one place to anotherwhile it is connected to the AC adapter, as this could result inthe camera becoming unplugged accidentally.4 Turn the camera off before connecting the ACadapterBe sure the camera is off before connecting the AC adapter.4 Do not dropYour camera may malfunction if subjected to strong shocks orvibration.4 Keep away from strong magnetic fieldsDo not use or store your camera in the vicinity of equipmentthat produces strong electromagnetic radiation or magneticfields. The magnetic fields produced by equipment such asradio transmitters or household television sets could causeinterference on the color LCD monitor, damage data stored onthe flash memory card, or affect the camera's internal circuitry.4 Keep dryThe COOLPIX 900 is not waterproof, and may malfunction ifimmersed in water or exposed to high levels of humidity.4 Keep free of salt, sand, and dustAfter using your camera at the beach or seaside, wipe off anysand or salt with a lightly dampened cloth and then dry yourcamera thoroughly.4 Avoid sudden changes in temperatureSudden changes in temperature, such as occur when entering orleaving a heated building on a cold day, can cause condensationinside the camera. To prevent condensation, place the camerain its carrying case or a plastic bag before exposing it to suddenchanges in temperature.4 BatteriesWhen you turn the camera on, check the battery leveldisplayed in the control panel to determine whether thebatteries need to be replaced. See " Checking the Battery Level"for a description of the battery level indicator.Use only 1.5V AA (LR6) batteries. Alkaline batteries arerecommended, but nickel-cadmium (NiCd), nickel metal-hydride (NiMH), and lithium batteries may also be used. Notehowever that the battery indicator may not function properlywith these types of battery. On cold days, the capacity of batteries tends todecrease. When taking pictures outside in cold weather, keep aspare set of warm batteries on hand.
