- 72 -Troubleshooting: General ProblemsTroubleshootingIf you should notice any problems with your COOLPIX 900,check the list below before consulting your retailer or Nikonrepresentative.General ProblemsNothing shows in the control panelChecklist:* Is the selector dial set to OFF?Turn the selector dial to A-REC, M-REC, or PLAY.* Are the batteries correctly inserted and the battery coverclosed?The camera will not operate if the batteries are not insertedin the correct direction or if the battery cover is not fullyclosed. Insert the batteries as described in " Putting Batteriesin Your Camera."* Is the AC adapter properly connected?If you are using the camera with the AC adapter, be sure theadapter is properly connected. See " Using the AC Adapter."* Are the batteries dead?Put new batteries in the camera as described in " PuttingBatteries in Your Camera."The control panel is on but nothing shows in the colormonitorPress the MONITOR button until the monitor comes on.No indicators are visible in the color monitorPress the MONITOR button until indicators are visible. If aslideshow is currently in progress, halt the slideshow first bypressing the MENU key. If the monitor is showing an en-larged view of a photograph in playback mode, press themultiple-select button () first to restore normal playbackdisplay.The color monitor is hard to readIndication: Monitor is too dark or too bright* Adjust the brightness of monitor as described in " AdvancedSettings: LCD Brightness."Indication: Display is dirty* Clean the display with a soft, dry cloth as described in " Car-ing for Your Camera."The camera does not record an image when theshutter button is fully pressedIndication: The selector dial is set to OFF or PLAY* Turn the selector dial to A-REC or M-REC when makingphotographs.Indication: The battery indicator in the monitor or controlpanel is flashing* There is no longer enough battery power to record photo-graphs.
